Conditions are rapidly deteriorating across the marine areas this morning, with southeast winds already 20-25 knots with gusts to 30 knots and seas around 5 ft noted in observations. Winds will gradually to rapidly increase today, with gale conditions starting mid-morning. Storm to violent storm force wind gusts are expected from this afternoon through mid-morning Tuesday. Winds of 35-45kts with gusts to 55-60 knots are forecast over all marine areas, including bays/sounds. There is still a low-end chance for hurricane force gusts of 65kts, and trends will be monitored closely. Seas of 14-19 feet offshore is expected. Conditions remain dangerous tomorrow, with gale to strong gale force westerlies through much of the day while seas slowly subside. Hazardous conditions to small craft will persist through mid to late week before another strong system poses a threat for at least gales.
